Thanks to a genius, I can finally hacintosh my Dell optiplex 755 desktop.

URL: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=142913

This is the process I used to install iDeneb 10.5.5 with full NIC, Video, Sound support along with the update to 10.5.8! I want to say that the Dell Optiplex 755 is the most stable system for a Hackintosh! You will be VERY impressed at how well OS X runs on this machine! I’m George Zimmer Founder and CEO of The Mens Warehouse and I guarantee it!

Pre-installation:

BIOS settings: make sure that the mode for SATA controller as AHCI instead of ATA. In my case, original I set the bios as ATA, and I can successfully install iDeneb, however , after the reboot, I stuck at the gray apple logo, with a circle crossed. After several trials and errors, I set SATA controller as AHCI which is actually the default setting for dell bios A9.

iDeneb Installation Notes:

  1. I have Snow Leopard 10.6.5 successfully running on this model as well. I am using an Nvidia 8600GT Card with 256MB memory. All devices are working. System is fast and very stable.

  2. I have a Dell Optiplex 755 full size, but I’ve changed some hardware of it.
I put 8 gb DDR 2 ram memory, i changed the video card to ATI RADEON HD 2400, and other specs I think you know such as intel network card, etc.
I tried to install either s3 v2 or v7 but I always get kernel panics.
Can you suggest to me how should I install iAtkos and what should I choose at the Customize part.
It would be very kind of you if you helped me!
    Cheers!

  6. Would you or someone please help with the terminal commands by writing them out a bit more step by step? I’m not entirely familiar with terminal commands and probably taking them too literally by typing in exactly what it says above. Example: I typed in “sudo -s” then I typed in my password then I typed “while sleep 1 ; do rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext ; done”. I realized that not all of that is meant to be entered and/or not all at once but again, literal step by steps directions would be extremely helpful. You’ve brought me so far and i thank you. Now unfortunately, I’m stumped. Also and finally, when the script runs per the directions you gave, what will be visible in the terminal window? Will it just flash a cursor or will it actually be running text language down the terminal screen? Thanks again very much.

  8. Not sure where to turn for help. I have a Dell 755 and used the tonymac unibeast. Everything loads great, but the video isn’t working right. Which makes the system not very usable. If I knew how to edit the DSDT, I would try making it work. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150555 is the video card that I am trying to get to work. Can anyone help me?

    Thanks
